Terms and conditions for admission to the section:

Any translator who wishes to become member of the Section should submit the following documents to the Chairperson: 

For translators of scientific and technical literature:

1. 10 pages of original text and its translation into Bulgarian for review by the section

2. One recommendation from a member of the BTU or from major clients for whom the candidate has worked

3. Interview at the Section

For sworn translators:

1. An application and a detailed CV are submitted to the Chairperson of the Section.

2. The Chairperson organises an exam – written and oral – through which the candidate’s language skills are checked. The exam fee is BGN 120. The exam results are announced by the Chairperson of the examination committee on the day of the exam.

3. If the result of the examination is positive, the application is reported and voted on by the Board.

BTU members who are sworn translators have the right to a personal seal.The seal confirms the legal capacity of the translator and certifies his/her membership in the BTU.
